In 1966 the late Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, took the reins of rule in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi

The 50th anniversary of the accession of the founder of the United Arab Emirates and the architect of its renaissance and pride, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace), to the reins of power in Abu Dhabi on August 6, 1966, has marked the UAE's great achievements, becoming one of the most developed countries in the region and now leading many regional and global indicators in several areas related to human development. Sheikh Zayed's accession to the rule of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi was a significant event, indeed a turning point in the history of the emirate, as it is in the history of the United Arab Emirates. On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces (may God protect him), said that half a century ago, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace) began his blessed leadership of the nation's renaissance, which culminated in the most magnificent achievements. He added, "Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's wise vision, filled with ambition, optimism, and confidence, will remain a beacon in hearts and minds, inspiring us to continue our honorable achievements for the nation's advancement and progress."
في السادس من أغسطس من العام 1966.. تولى المغفور له بإذن الله الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان "طيب الله ثراه" مقاليد الحكم في أبوظبي بعد مبايعته من الأسرة الحاكمة، لتبدأ مسيرة مباركة توجت بتأسيس دولة الاتحاد في الثاني من ديسمبر من العام 1971.
When Sheikh Zayed (may God have mercy on him) assumed power, Abu Dhabi was an island consisting of a group of marshlands isolated from the mainland. Today, it has risen to the ranks of major global cities, achieving significant and unprecedented accomplishments in terms of continuous economic, urban, and developmental leaps, making it a model city in the region. Many cities have changed, developed, and achieved great leaps in their lives and the lives of their residents, but few have undergone the same degree of transformation as Abu Dhabi. The emirate's grandparents and fathers faced numerous challenges and endured difficult living conditions. However, they quickly transitioned from a harsh life and reliance on their tribal community's ways to adapt to the hot and humid environment to a life of luxury, with per capita GDP reaching AED 184,100 in 2014, one of the highest in the world.
رتقى الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان -طيب الله ثراه- بالإمارة وجعل مدينة أبوظبي من أرقى العواصم في العالم، فقد ارتقى بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة إلى أعلى مراتب المجد العالمية بين الأمم في التقدم والتنمية الإنسانية، فبينما كانت أبوظبي تخطو خطوات سريعة وهي تتهيأ لتصبح عاصمة لدولة الاتحاد -أول تجربة اتحادية ناجحة في المنطقة- كانت دولة الإمارات تنمو وتتطور بخطى ثابتة، ولكنها متسارعة جداً حتى أصبحت في سنوات قليلة أيضاً نموذجاً للدول التي حققت معدلات تنمية ورفاهية عالية جداً، بل لقد أصبح الاتحاد نموذجاً للدول الاتحادية على مستوى العالم، ليس من حيث توزيع الصلاحيات بين الإمارات المشكلة للاتحاد فقط، وإنما من حيث التكامل والانسجام اللذان قل نظيرهما في الكثير من الدول التي شهدت تجارب اتحادية.
When we look at contemporary history, we find that there are many leaders who passed through and led their countries.
